How do you multiply and divide radicals

OpenStudy (chaise):

In order to divide radicals you must multiply by the conjugate to both numberator and denominator. Then you just foil it out.

im still confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok sqrt2 / sqrt3 multiply top and bottom by sqrt3 = sqrt6/ 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i need help!!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is confusing

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Here you go, have a look it might help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 + sqrt3 / 3 - sqrt2 multiply top and bottom by 3 + sqrt2 (3+ sqrt2 is called the conjugate of 3 - sqrt2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

go back to the first one sqrt2 / sqrt3 : sqrt 2 = sqrt2 * sqrt 3 = sqrt (2*3) = sqrt 6 ----- ------------ -------- ----- sqrt 3 sqrt 3 * sqrt 3 3 3
