absolute value inequality. |3x-7|>= -5, I get x>=2/3, x<=4...need help understanding graphing and interval notation....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i= |3x-7|%3E%3D+-5 might help you undestand the graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

rules for interval notations are http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interval_%28mathematics%29#Notations_for_intervals

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=[2/3,4]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would my answer be (infinity, 2/3] U [4, infinity)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dharam: please explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3/8+1/2+2/3 =(3*3+4*12+2*8)/24 =9+48+16/24 =73/24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry wrongly typed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here 2/3<=x<=4 so x lies beween 2/3 and 4 also since x cann't be sess then 2/3 or more the 4 so in other words (2/3,infinity) intersection(infinity,4)
