Find the zeros: 3x^2 - 22x -16 = 0 i fixed it but please explain
use the quadratic formula. a=3 b=-22 c=-16
to find the zeros? or the xs?
your xs are called zeros. That is where the graph crosses the x-axis.
by the way x=8 and x=(-2/3)
You could also factor it and solve for the zeros. Factor is (x-8)(3x+2)
ok i didnt know you could use the quadratic formula, so if you factored what would you do after that?
Quadratic formula works 100% of the time. Factoring does not always work. You could be given a quadratic that can not be factored but the quadratic formula will give you the solution since those solutions are complex solutions.
After you factor, set each one equal to zero and solve for it. \[x-8=0\] x=8 \[3x+2=0\] x=(-2/3)
thank you so much!! this is more help then my teacher, and thanks for the quadratic tip im in pre-calc, and i didnt know that
Anytime. Don't be afraid to ask your teacher for help. Learn to factor because it is faster to factor (if possible) then to use the quadratic formula. I only use the quadratic formula when the factoring is not obvious. Use your graphing calculator to double check your solutions. In other words, make sure those x values give you a zero y value.
