inflection is where the graph of a function changes concavity

In calculus, an inflection point is a point on a curve at which the curvature or concavity changes sign. The curve changes from being concave upwards (positive curvature... if the graph is a cross-section of a vessel it would hold water) to concave downwards (negative curvature... the cross-section would not hold water), or vice versa.
