How can the act of observation change the physical reality around us?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Our brains are only linked by the expreriences we encounter or perceive. The more observation of the physical world we live in the more input data our brains will receive to determine logic (things that make sense) from our surroundings. The perception of the social environment is very important. For instance, most people are baffled by quantum theory. They are just lacking information. http://energylooptheory.com

I'm not sure that answers my question... but thanks.

Well, one example would be by observing the emission of light our eyes are capturing photons which would have otherwise kept moving along their merry way. Similarly, various types of observations require us to interact the object (poke it) in such a way that we actually affect its behavior to at least a small degree.

This reminds me of Schrotinger's Cat...a quantum physics thing you can read about here if you're bored: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schr%C3%B6dinger%27s_cat
