mathmaster here i think that a is made as 1a which is called as multiplicative identity ( 1 multiplied by any number is the number itself ) MULTIPLICATIVE IDENTITY IS USED here

multiplicative identity is used in 5a + a = 5a + 1a. multiplicative identity: we can multiply 1 to any number... and it keeps its identity! The number stays the same!
