For a baby shower gift, heather crocheted a baby blanket whose length was 2.5 feet and whose width was 2 feet. She plans to crochet a proportionally larger similar blanket for the baby's motehr. if she wants the length of the mother's blanket to be 6.25 feet, what should the width be?

This is basically a question regarding similar shapes. If you draw out a diagram it might help. Then compare the lengths because they are PROPORTIONAL. Basically let the scale factor be "x". To simplify it I will keep the left side the mom's blanket measurement and the right the baby's blanket measurement. Length: 6.25 = 2.5x Mom's ^ ^ Baby's x = 2.5 <---- This is the scale factor Width: ??? = 2x ??? = 2(2.5) ??? = 5
