OpenStudy (anonymous):

wats that?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

that's for amistre.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the independant variabel is the one that doesnt depend on anything else, and that is the # of days in this case

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the # of days rolls on by regardless of what else happens in the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats wat i put

OpenStudy (amistre64):

and everything else depends on it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so wats 12, 13, and 15?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

to decipher the rest, and im sure its a linear function; we need to pick 2 points and devise a line equation from them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wat?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

your going to have to be more specific than that

OpenStudy (amistre64):

which part did you get lost at?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im just asking wat the answers r to 12, 13, and 15:)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

and it seems to be by no set of peculiar coincedences that i am answering 12 13 and 15 lol

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

HAHA^

OpenStudy (amistre64):

tell me, what is the difference in price from day to day, that will help us out. What is the difference between say 50 and 45?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whatever :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thought u already answered 12, 13, and 15 so y r u wasting ur time going over them? huh? :/

OpenStudy (amistre64):

thats a typo there; the difference between 40 and 55 is what the data gives.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

do you want to get snide? or do you want to find the answers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wat does snide mean?? and yes i want the answers

OpenStudy (amistre64):

snide means .... well, its being rude in one way or another. but thats beside the point. If we can determine the difference in price from day to day we can make an equation that will tell us alot about the rest of the questions

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the days change at a regular pace, 1 by 1, so any constant change in price will lead us to a "slope" that we can use

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the difference between each one is 15

OpenStudy (amistre64):

good, then the rate of change from day to day is 15; lets make an equation to use that information in. y = 15x seems good, but we need to check it with one of the data points given; id say we use day 1. (1,25) 25 = 15(1) .... needs a constant to adjust for the error. would yousay that we need a +10 on it? y = 15x + 10

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the insurance fee is paid one time, so it relates to the 10, or rather $10 the daily rate is what changes, so it relates to the $15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is the insurance $10 and the daily is $5 or wat?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

$10 insurance, and $15 is daily rate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so did they just pay insurance once?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we can check that by plugging in another day, say day 3 y = 15(3) + 10 y = 45+10 = 55, and lo and behold; the data says that day 3 costs 55 dollars :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the insurance is a one time deal

OpenStudy (amistre64):

as far as 13 goes, the data is the stated domain and range; there is no difference.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

will the domain and rangefor the equation representing this data be different that the domain and range of the data itself?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

nope, the data is the domain and the range. the equation simply is a model of it

OpenStudy (amistre64):

they are like 2 sides of the same coin

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if anything, and this is just pulling at straws; the equation has an infinite domain and range in both direction, positive and negtative. Whereas the domain and range of the data itself is strictly positive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the rental company decided to drop the basic insurance fee,how much would he pay?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

just remove the +10 and keep the rest of the equation :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

y = 15x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome :)
