A quarterback throws a football at 40 km/hr to a receiver 50 yd away. How much time does it take the ball to reach the receiver? Would 40 km/hr be a acceleration or a velocity?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

velocity. is the answer. if it was acceleration, it would be written as 40km/hr^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would you know that it's acceleration ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for time, use distance= velocity x time. thus, distance/velocity= time, 50 yard = 0.036576 km 0.036km/40km/hr = 0.0009 hour. if u wish, u can convert to seconds

OpenStudy (anonymous):

accelerations are usually written as km/hr square

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok so what would velocity usually be? And thank you by the way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

velocity would be m/sec, km/hr, mile/hour with out square at the bottom

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait I'm confused. What do you mean without square?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

means if its velocity, the time would not be squared while acceleration's time is usually squared.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay Okay I see , Thank you. You were a great help . I have a test tomorrow and I think this really helped :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ure welcome :)
