Explain how to convert 1.42g/cm^2 to mg/mm^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 g = 1000 mg and 1 cm^2 = 100 mm^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So multiply by 10.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Giving you 14.2 mg/mm^2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So can someone write that in the equation thing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you just forget about the cm to mm thing? i dont understand...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I didn't get your point.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, how about this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So to find the g to mg, you move decimal to the left three times?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since milligrams is 10^-3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i do not understand why you have 0.142.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiply in 10 when move cm ---> mm , and multiply in 10*10 when you move from cm^2--->mm^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll change my answe up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean for the grams, when you move 1.42 grams to mg, does that have anything to do with cm to mm?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry if i don't say it right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am just confused about how you get the grams/cm TO mg/mm.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

liike move kilo metres to meters, just have it like this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have to take to account two things: 1 g equals 1000 mg so 1.42 g equals 1420 mg. On the other hand 1 mm^2 equals 100 cm^2 since 1 cm is 10 mm. So 1420 mg/cm^2 becomes 14.20 mg/mm^2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok I'll show again . forget about the previous.
