Suppose a population A has 100 observations 101, 102, ... , 200, and another population B has 100 observations 151, 152, ... , 250. If VA and VB represent the variances of the two populations, respectively, then VA/VB is

1) 1 2) 9/4 3) 4/9 4) 2/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have the formula for calculating the variance ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no sir i am beginner in these type of questions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well how does your teacher expect you to do statistics without giving you the basic formulas?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sir got to go now , please please post the solutions if possible or i would get the help after some time ( tomorrow - indian standard time )

variance of x1,x2,x3,x4,...xn is first find mean 'm' then find square of each value - m ie (x1-m)^2 and sum of all these and then again divide with n in siimple formula its \[(\sum_{i=1}^{n}(X_{i}-mean(Entire. values))^2 ) /n\] so first u need to find mean of two sets
