y3x y-5x y-2x y = multiply and simplify 3,-5,-2 are all exponents. x=multiply

OpenStudy (stormfire1):

\[y^3x*y ^{-5}x*y ^{-2}x*y\]Since this is all multiplication, you can add the exponents for terms with the same base: For the y's you get: 3 + (-5) + (-2) + 1 = -3 For the x's you get: 1 + 1 + 1 So you end up with: \[y ^{-3}*x^3\]

OpenStudy (stormfire1):

You could also write it as: \[1/y ^{3}*x^3\]

storm fire you can use \cdot instead of * to make the multiplication dot look nicer

cool, thx :)
