\[\frac{mol}{L}=M\] You can use the following formula to answer this: \[M_1V_1=M_2V_2\] Note that V is handled in terms of L so we times the 50ml by 10^{-3}. \[0.10M*50(10^{-3})L=0.02M*V_2\] We need to solve for V_2 so we will divide both sides by 0.02. \[\frac{0.10M*50(10^{-3})L}{0.02M}=V_2\] Notice that the M cancel and we are left with L which is what we are seeking. \[0.25L=V_2\] This can also be written as: \[V_2=250ml\] Now if you approach this logically, we're looking to dilute a concentration because the Molarity is going down. The implication here is that we have to add more water so our volume will go up. Note that we have a larger volume for V_2 than V_1.
