4x/5-1/3=1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thinking aloud here: What should we do to isolate x on the left hand side? What do you think the first step should be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{4x}5 -\frac{1}3=1\] \[\frac{4x}5=1+\frac{1}3\] \[\frac{4x}5=\frac{4}3\] do cross multiplication now \[4x*3=4*5\] \[12x=20\] \[x=\frac{20}{12}\] \[x=\frac{10}5\]
