Below you can see a table set up to multiply two polynomials. What is the coefficient of the x3-term of the product? http://i55.tinypic.com/2epkks0.png

PLEASE HELP :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whaterver \[(4x*-3x^2) +(2*x^3)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-12x^3 + 2x^3 ... should be -10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

coefficient of x^3 = -10

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

there are two x^3 terms They are: (4x)*(-3x^2) = -12x^3 and (2)*(x^3) = 2x^3 Add them to get: -12x^3 + 2x^3 = -10x^3 So the coefficient is -10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just don't get it ..

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Fill out the table by multiplying each row by each column

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you'll see that there will only be two x^3 terms in the table
