how did the aftermath of the french and indian war affect the relationship between the colonies and great britain?
The french and indian war left the colonies with new land. With the amount of immigrants arriving who realized that land for them was being taken up by the rich they were eager to go into the land to claim it. However, there were still Indian tribes who were violent towards the colonists so Britain told them they were not allowed to claim the area until British soldiers could secure the land. To the colonists this was the first time that Britain had heavily enforced a law and they felt as though their rights were being impeded. This marks one of the first instances where tension between Britain and the colonies began.
I agree with Tryctor; The French and Indian war strained relationships due to the British treatment of colonial militia...but also The British implemented an extreme policy of taxation to try to recoup losses incurred by the war. This taxation combined with British mercantile policy to place an onerous burden upon the colonists, fomenting revolution.
