what is domain of (x^2+2x+1)/(x^3+1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The domain is the real line except -1.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

You cannot divide by 0 So if x^3+1 = 0, then x^3 = -1 and x = -1 (which is the only real solution) So if x = -1, then x^3+1 is zero So we must exclude this from the domain. So the domain is the set of all real numbers except x cannot be equal to -1
