A line has a slope of -3 and a y-intercept of 4. Is the equation of the line a direct variation equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use y=mx+ c, m being the slope.. and c being the intercept!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No. The equation for a line is given by \[y = mx+b\] y can't vary with m or b directly. (y+b) and m can, however.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is no.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I meant: (y-b) and m can vary.
