14c^2 - 19c - 3 a=14 b=-19 c=-3 a*c=-42 14c^2 - 6c + 7c - 3 What do I do now? Factoring Trinomials where "a" does not equal 1

hero (hero):

Wait...something is wrong

hero (hero):

The middle two terms are not supposed to be 7c and -6c b is -19 those terms don't add up.

hero (hero):

What did you do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not sure, but i think when I was trying to get the 2 numbers that are supposed to add up to "b", i used the numbers that multiply to get -42.

hero (hero):

14*3 = 42 so you didn't multiply wrong

hero (hero):

Are you sure -19 is the middle term?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.

hero (hero):

Hold on a sec

hero (hero):

Okay, well I found it it shouldn't have been this difficult

hero (hero):

14c^2 - 21c + 2c -3 7c(2c - 3) + 1(2c-3) (2c-3)(7c+1)

hero (hero):

I'm going to bed. I'm tired, I didn't even finish my own homework and I didn't watch Smallville. Also my dinner was horrible.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

same here. but my dinner was alright. Hope tomorrow's dinner is better.

hero (hero):

I would show you how to find the middle two terms (without fail) but it's time consuming and you probably wouldn't understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I will be alright, you can go to bed and get your rest. Good Night and have a good sleep.

hero (hero):

Maybe tomorrow, but I'll at least leave you with the formula: |dw:1316574611637:dw|
