The particles of a gas are packed closely together and don't have as much movement as the particles of a solid or liquid true or false?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

False.

OpenStudy (jamesj):

The exact opposite is true. In gaseous form, the molecules/atoms are farther apart and have more movement. It's not hard to convince yourself of this: if it atoms were more tightly packed than the liquid or solid and moved less, wouldn't they just be a cold version of the liquid or solid?
