OpenStudy (karatechopper):

1/2 (3g-2)=g/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

g=1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiplying by 2 on both sides gives 3g-2 = g-> 2g=2-> g=2

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

steps plz!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

g=1 sorry, not g=2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3/2g-1/2g=1 ==> g=1

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't understand what he wrote either, my steps above are sound, with the exception that g = 1, instead of 2. I misstyped.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u multiply the 1/2 by the parenthesis u get 3g/2-1=g/2 then when u switch things around u get 3g/2-g/2=1 which means g=1

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

this is what i thought u do... 1/2(3g-2)=g/2 3/2g-1=g/2 3/2g-1+1=g/2 3/2g=g/2+1 3/2g-g/2=g/2-g/2+1 g=1 CORRECT?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would begin by multiplying both sides by 2 before anything else, it gets rid of all of the fractions.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

i did tht and then came up witha weird answer so nope for me!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well as son as you multiply by 2, you get 3g-2 = g then 2g-2 = 0 2g =2 g=1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but your way works too, I just don't like fractions.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well its math and there are sometimes a lot of options to solve a problem and its absolutely up to you to choose which one is easier for u to understand and execute. wish u the best
