when graphing an inequality, how do you know what part is shaded?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nooo on the graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you know what part of the graph is shaded?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the part that is a closed circle on the line or is included in teh graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you talking about inequalities in the plane or on the number line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on the plane

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you fill in all the points that make the inequality true; an infinite number of points filled in creates a shaded effect

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just realized my response is a bit confusing. Sorry

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so you test out a point that is clearly on one side of the boundary line and if its true; shade that side; if false ... the other side

tas okay tacobellman, but hey amistre64,thanks for the answer!!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
