Tell whether each word below is a homonym or homograph. Give the meanings of each word and its homonym or homograph. Then write a sentence for each one. ring

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"Ring" is a homophone because is SOUNDS like "wring," but has a different meaning. RING: (n) A typically circular band of metal or other durable material... (v) To give forth a clear resonant sound, as a bell when struck. WRING: To twist, squeeze, or compress, especially so as to extract liquid.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

homograph means just "same spelling", whereas homonym means "same spelling, different pronounciation". For example, bear (verb) and bear (animal) are homograhps, whereas desert (food) and desert (land) are homonyms. For ring: ring is a homograph, because there's ring (verb, "to ring someone"), and ring (circular object).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Homograph means that two or more words are spelled alike, but are pronounced differently. ie. read and read. Homophone (or homonym) means that two or more words are pronounced the same, but are spelled differently. ie. to, too, and two. I guess we would need to know what the second word is. Are you using ring and ring, or ring and wring.
