How do forces affect the motion of an object

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it makes the object move slow.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i push you, you fall down, you hit the ground, with a pound. i pull you, you follow me, into a tree, like a honeybee.

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

the net force will accelerate the object along the line of force

OpenStudy (anonymous):

F=ma, The tendency of an object is to stay in its current state of motion, this is the property of inertia, thus for an object to change it's current state of motion (or velocity) (which can be either a change in the magnitude of the velocity (the speed) or in the direction of which that object was originally moving (called accelerations)) some external "something" we call force must be acting on that object to change it's velocity state.
