Determine the points at which F(x) is continous. f(x)= 5 csc(5x) I know I should make it f(x)=5 ((1/sin)5x) but what else?

OpenStudy (jamesj):

when does the expression 1/y make sense? when y is not zero So when does 1/sin(5x) make sense? When sin 5x is not zero

OpenStudy (jamesj):

I.e., when x = .... (calculate!)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not sure what you mean..

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Hint: there are an infinite number of x for which sin 5x = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im trying to find where it is not contious

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Yes, and the function will NOT be continuous where it is not defined. For example, look at the graph of f(x) = cosec(x) http://www3.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=f%28x%29+%3D+1%2Fsin%28x%29

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am not sure how that helped at all..? I see the graph but how does that help here

OpenStudy (jamesj):

The function f(x) = 5 cosec(5x) has an infinite number of points where it is not defined. Those are also exactly the points where it is not continuous. What are the values of x for which f(x) is not defined?

Never mind I think I got it. Thanks.. was like n/5
