A truck driver has to deliver bread to five grocery stores. Suppose that the stores are located in two towns far enough apart that the driver wants to make all stops in one town before going on to the next. In how many different ways can he schedule the order of his stops if the larger town has three stores?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know the equation for it but if you write it out you can get 22 different ways

OpenStudy (anonymous):

either he starts in the larger town and has to go to the 3 stores in all the ways he can then to the two. actually. 1 second

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3(3!) + 2(2!) will give you the 22 since there are 3 stores and 3 different ways but none can repeat and then 2 stores and 2 different ways to go to them. 3! is 6*3 is 18+ 2! which is 2 times 2 to give 18+ 4 = 22

answer is 24 but i don't know how.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay :/ sorry i thought i did have it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i remember doing these but its been a while

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's okay.

I know this old but... For those of you that get here by Google: (3!)x(2!) = 12; (2!)x(3!) = 12; 12 + 12 = 24;
