OpenStudy (kira_yamato):

How do viruses "attack" our cells if their genetic code is RNA?

OpenStudy (andrew314):

Only some viruses use RNA. These are called retroviruses. They carry a special enzyme with them called reverse transcriptase. This works similarly to DNA polymerase, except it uses the RNA as a template to make DNA. After reverse transcriptase has created a single stranded DNA molecule, a complementary strand is made, and the double stranded DNA is inserted in the cell's DNA.
