if 240,000 cartons of juice are produced and 0.23% of ot was damaged, how many cartons are good.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiply \[240,000\times .0023\] to find your answer. i would use a calculator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well. First We are told how much is damaged. So lets find out how much is good. Since having over 100% would be silly here, do 100-.23 to get 99.77% of the juice undamaged, or good. Multiply 240,000 by 99.77% to get your answer. Remember to change the % into decimal. Do this by dividing 99.77 by 100. After that multiply it by the amount of cartons of juice.

I would also caution you to see it the 0.23% was really a percent and not a straight decimal 0.23. In that case, you are already in decimals so just subtract .23 from 1 ( 1 because 100% going to decimal is 100/100). Then multiply that by cartons of juice.

So..can you give me an equation based on what you are saying here because I'm kind of confused!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Number of juice x (100-.23)
