Solve: 2^-2x = 32 I came up with: 2^-2x = 2^5 -2x = 5 But the correct answer seems to be -5/2. Where did I go wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops, I came out with x=3 in the end

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think i got it. x = -5/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

32 is the same thing as 2^5. This means you can say that -2x=5 ans divide by -2 which gives you -5/2.(USE LAW OF EXPONENTS THAT SAYS IF THE BASE IS THE SAME THEN YOU CAN JUST WRITE THE EXPONENTS AS AN EQUATION)
