OpenStudy (trancenova):

Fun Fact #45: Who would have thought of the tarantula as a devoted mother? Well after the female spider weaves a sack for her eggs she carries it attached to her spinnerets (behind her) for 6 to 7 weeks. This sack is about the size of her cephalothorax (top half of her body) and she guards it fearlessly. Interestingly she can't actually tell the difference between her egg and anything else of a similar size. If her egg is stolen (avast, those evil scientists) she will eagerly attach and guard a cork ball.
