what is precipitate ? a.a reactant in a precipitation reaction b.a reaction that failed to react c.A compound that doesn't dissolve in water d.Rain ?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

A precipitate is the product of a reaction that doesn't dissolve in water. I don't like the choices here, but I guess (c) seems most appropriate by process of elimination.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I agree none of these choices are really right but I would choose C if I had to choose one. Why others are wrong: a. A Precipitate forms after the reaction so I would consider it a product (alot of times if a product is a solid or precipitate, it is omitted from the reaction formula.) b. A precipitate is the result of a reaction that took place, not failed. d. Rain = precipitation but obviously not the right choice.

OpenStudy (turingtest):

precisely my reasoning too.
