How do you find the only zero of: F(x)=2x^3+x-5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

graphing calculator? i would cheat http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=2x%5E3%2Bx-5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you will not find it using algebra, that is for sure. there is a formula for third degree polynomials but it is long and cumbersome

Hmm, okay. I'll have to find it then.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Solve the function for F(x) = 0. \[F(x)=2x^3+x-5 = 0\]

I'd usually enter it into my graphing calculator, then use the zero function to identify the crossover point on the x axis.
