Biology 20 Online
OpenStudy (riley):

I have an upcoming Biology Exam this week and am trying my best to make sure I am familiar with the test material so that I can do well on this exam. My exam is on three different chapters: -"General Features of Cells" -"Membrane Structure, Synthesis, and Transport" -"Intro to Energy, Enzymes, and, Metabolism" Those are the three units that will be on my exam this week. Does anyone have any study tips, advice, or any sort of input on the three units that could help me with my studying. If there's important concepts that I need to make sure I know, or anything like that.

OpenStudy (riley):

Right now I'm going back through each chapter and making a flashcard for all the vocabulary words. Do you think it's a good idea to do this, or a big waste of time?? One chapter has 115 vocab words in it o_O . . . but I really just want to make sure I know what I'm doing when I take the exam. I might try going back through each of the three units and taking my own notes to review over. *shrugs* Any other sort of advice or ideas for studying would be greatly appreciated if anyone actually replies, considering how dead the Biology section is. =/

Hey Riley, I would recommend you do a few small study sessions with the vocabulary. the most important thing to grasp is to conceptualize the concepts. (redundant right?) heh. best thing is to take a strong mixture of both the notes from class, and a good study guide on the chapters you have. KEY CONCEPTS! i must stress this. i would also recommend you getting a small study group, bring questions and be ready to help others with what you know and can put forth a good discussion. study 1 hour minimum a night. then on the day before break up two one hour study sessions before the test. make them spaced out if you can. do not just force feed yourself the night before the exam. I am going to assume you are in bio one, be able to get the big picture with cells and cellular function. what is the lysosome if it was part of the school (garbage removal) mitochondria (energy room, if you have) nucleus (main office or dean). be able to identify . i remember my bio one exam, he stressed osmotic pressure (hypertonoic, isotonic, hypotonic/ for plants and mammals) ALSO endocytosis (phagocytosis, pinocytosis) i remembered these two in a rather sick way, pino = pee-which is water and you drink water, and phago=eating and this was wrong, but figure out a way to remember this term. also be relative fresh on ATP (kenetic energy/potentail energy and matter.) i can go more indetail, just ask. :)
