why didn't the colonists in America not like the Stamp Act? I've seen 3 websites each stating a different reason.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The stamp act was a tax on paper goods (newspaper, legal documentations) and the reason the colonist didn't like the tax was, because they were being taxed, but did not have any representation in parliament. It was also the first tax to raise money in the colony. The colonist felt the only way the England could tax them was if they had representation.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stamp_Act_1765 2nd and 3rd paragraphs look good

to add to what lostintranslation stated, it also had taxes on simple things like playing cards, too. A lot of items were put under the stamp act and it was ridiculous. Also, the king did not want to tax his own people like that, so he took for the colonies, because it was easier, which opened them up for a slew of new taxes to follow.
