Can a triangle be formed by three segments of lengths of 2 inches,3inches, and 6inches? Explain why or why not...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im pretty sure you can. The rule should be that when you add two lengths together, it's greater than the third length.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well which one would be the third length?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wait, you cant...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When you add 3 inches with 2 inches you get 5 inches right? 5 inches is less than the third length which is 6 inches. Therefore, that triangle does not exist.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanx!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So if its greater than the 3rd length it cannot be a triangle?
