Provide a unique real world example where quadratic equations might be used.

There can be a lot written. Think of something where u have an area that you are searching for.

finding a distance from one city to onother, using physics laws.

You're in the wilds of Afghanistan fighting the Taliban and firing shells at them from the side of mountain across to the next mountain. The equation of motion of the projectile (to first approximation) is a parabola and you need to manipulate the quadratic to to figure out exactly at what angle to launch the shells.

XD

In the military they call this the "firing solution". "Jonesy, I need that firing solution stat" "Just one more minute sir!" "Damn it Jonesy now! Now!" "Sorry sir, I never really liked quadratic equations." "WTF Jonesy" "Is it -b or +b, humm ... wait ... "

What does this mean? lmfao..

OpenStudy (jamesj):

In the military, they call the velocity and initial trajectory of the weapon you are firing the "firing solution". You might have heard that phrase in a movie. And here, the solution involves solving quadratic equation. Out on the battle field, if you forget the quadratic formula and can't figure out how to hit the enemy on time, it could be serious. Just sayin'!

Haha okay well thank you for that fact!
