9z-6/-3. I got the answer and it's 3x+7. But why is it plus 7 instead of subtract 7?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk

I know that's not the answer though. I accidetnly typed the wrong one. The real answer is -3z+-2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9z - 6 9z 6 ------ = ---- + ---- = -3z + 2 - 3 -3 3

But how does it become an addition equation when the beginning equation was in subtraction? I never really understood that. And thanks.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay then approach it as follows Let us first make the denominator positive (as we are more used to divide by positive no.) for this we multiply the fraction by 1 in the form -1/-1 9z - 6 -1 -9z + 6 -9z 6 ------ * ----- = -------- = ----- + ----- = -3z + 2 - 3 -1 3 3 3 Now is it clear ???

Okay I see. Thank you.
