What does this mean? xy+(4 [20])>x-5y[2+9-7]

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Sometimes people will use square brackets instead of parentheses. So most likely it means the same as: \[xy + (4(20)) > x - 5y(2 + 9 -7)\] Or: \[xy + 4 \times 20 > x - 5y \times (2 + 9 - 7)\]

Based on the quote "I'm still waiting for the day that I will use xy + (4 20) > x - 5y [2+9+7] in real life." What does the equation mean?

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

'Fraid I'm not sure beyond what I mentioned above. Seems reasonable that some more context is needed to understand what exactly the equation is referring to.
