need mor info on cell membranes, anything??
Cell membranes are selectively or semi permeable, that is, they allow certain substances to pass through it like certain food particles, and the metabolic wastes generated by the cell. The cell membrane acts like the skin of the cell and protects the cell from foreign dangers.
pratu043 is correct. Even more so, the cellular membrane is hydrophobic meaning it's afraid of water! but in all seriousness, this can easily be compared to dropping vegetable oil in water, the oil stays together no matter how much you stir the mixture. The membrane is actually a double membrane (ill attach a picture) that contains embedded proteins and surface proteins responsible for allowing certain molecules into the cell that where it gets its' "selectively permeable" status.
