start with \[5(y-7)=2(y+4)\] and go from there
so would it be 5y-35=2y+8?
yes that would be the first step
subtract 2y from both sides add 35 to both sides divide both sides by 3
get the y all by itself. subtract 2y and add 35. this gives you 3y=43. then divide by 3 and you have y=43/3
