white blood cells is a whole "family" of cells. i believe that u refer to neutrophils - whic are a major componenet of the innate immune system. they are sometimes called PMN - poly-morpho-nuclear - as they have one contiguous highly lobulated nucelus. in a cross section u may see 5 segments 0 which appear to be unconnected but actually are all part of a polymorphonoclear. actually the number of segments attest to the cell maturity, not enough segments - too young a cell
