why can't you just take the power rule for trig functions to find the derivative like for sin^2 the derivative is not 2sin but rather u take the product rule and get 2sincos

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm actually chain rule but same diff but yeah y do i have to do that instead of straight power rule like i know the chain rule is correct but y is it correct

OpenStudy (zarkon):

you know you are using the chain rule when you take the derivative of \[x^2\]

OpenStudy (amistre64):

why do i bother answering it if your just gonna ask it twice ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i apologize my pc didnt do anything when i entered so i refreshed and typed it in again and then the question was posted

OpenStudy (amistre64):

:) yeah, the site is tricky at times, its spose to run best on google chrome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am on chrome though :'(

OpenStudy (amistre64):

bummer, at any rate; its a chain rule becasue trig functions are "functions" and not simply variables

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thnx a lot
