I know this is math. but how many people have read the hunger games? if so, answer this question. Why do you think some characters (like Katniss and Thresh) feel as though they “owe” someone for kindness, and others (like Peeta) never expect “payment” for their kindness shown?
oops, this isnt math!!! oh well.
reply pleaase?
I'm sorry I don't know the answer. I forgot to click of your question. :(
oh thats okay!
Okeedokei!!
Katniss feels that she owes others for the kindness they show towards her because she herself feels as though she's done nothing to earn it. Throughout the series, she continuously mentions how she owes Peeta for the kindness he shows her, but she hasn't done anything worthwhile for him. In reality, she's done numerous things for Peeta, including keeping him alive. However she doesn't feel like she's doing it out of kindness, she's doing it out of a sense of duty, similar to her providing food for her family by hunting outside the district. She doesn't do it to be nice, she does it because she feels she has to. Therefore, she feels undeserving of the kindness Peeta shows her because she's merely doing what she believes she has to do. Peeta doesn't expect payment because he's a heavily moral individual. He's driven by a sense of being true to himself, which includes doing things for others without expecting anything in return. As a child, he gave the burnt bread to Katniss knowing full well she wouldn't give him something in return. He did it because it was the right thing to do (and he was in love with her, but that's another story). Hope this helps a little!
