how can you determine Na2CO3 is sodium carbonate from the periodic table of elements? please and thank you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You pretty much just need to know....Na (charge of +1) is sodium as it says on the periodic table, and CO3 (charge of 2-) is the carbonate ion (not on periodic table, its a commonly used ion though). Know that you will need to know these to pursue studies in science especially chemistry and biology related subjects.

Oh yeah and Carbonate gets its name from C (carbon) and the oxygens bonded to it... The is a special nomenclature for each ions and how they get there names but its long to explain, for more info just google ion nomenclature or simply nomenclatuer of chemical compounds
