Factor by grouping x^3+3x^2-5x-15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just did one like this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i never figured out how to do it lol

hero (hero):

x^2(x+3)-5(x+3) (x+3)(x^2-5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x^3+3x^2)(-5x-15) ...see I am confused I dont understand how that works??

hero (hero):

I could explain it to you, but you would need Skype

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if i do foil i get this 2x^2-5x+3x^2-2 ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5x^2-7??

hero (hero):

You're foiling the wrong thing Foil this: (x+3)(x^2-5) But you have to foil correctly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5x^2-7 is what i get

hero (hero):

You did something wrong then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm idk i just did it again and got the same thing

hero (hero):

Yeah, I question your foiling method

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok.. well can you help me lol

hero (hero):

I already told you, I can help you using Skype

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont have skype my comps crap

hero (hero):

I'm sorry to hear that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nvm i figured it out... i wasnt supposed to solve it just group it

hero (hero):

I guess

hero (hero):
