How do I graph y =√x ?

Use a table of values then plot the points and the curve that fits them. It will look like a sideways parabola with no bottom.

all values for y will be positive because you can't have a negative come out of a square root. Since Y will be positive, it will be over the x-axis. since you're working only positive x values (since you can't take the square root of a negative), you will be working with only positive x-values too. So you're on the right of the y-axis. next, plug in four points - I'd use 1, 4, 16, 36. you'll notice a curve, comparable to half of a parabola turned on its side..
