does anyone know how to factor x (x+3)-9(x+3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x-9)(x+3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Take the x+3 out from both the terms (x+3)[x -9]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you want the two numbers to add up to your middle number and multiply together to your last number. ax^2+bx+c.... your middle number being b and your last number being c

as sumanthy says, the x+3 can be considered a GCF of the two terms x(x+3) and -9(x+3) so factor it out leaving the x-9 as the second factor; it is aprt of a process often called "factor by grouping"
