On a particular farm, it is found that approximately 74% of the tomato seeds planted will germinate. What is the minimum number of seeds that should be planted if a yield of 300 tomato plants is required?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you need to end up with 300 tomatoes but only 74% of the seeds you plant will grow, then 300 =0.74x where x is the number of seeds you should plant. Therefore... x = 300 / 0.74
