3/x-5 - 2/1

OpenStudy (turingtest):

\[{3\over x-5}-{2\over1}\]is the problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yessum!

OpenStudy (turingtest):

and we want to do what, simplify it? or is it equal to zero and we're supposed to solve for x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Simplify it, I know we have to have the denominators the same?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

seems weird to simplify this but if you want you can multiply (2/1) by\[ {x-5 \over x-5}\] and you get\[{3-2(x-5) \over x-5}={-2x+13 \over x-5}\]I guess that's your answer... doesn't seem much simpler though.

That's perfect I thin! Idk, I was taking the (x-5) times the 2 but idk it wasn't making sense with the answer I got, yours seems much better ! :) Thank you!
