I can't figure out Lagrange multipliers. Here is one example: x^2 + y^2 + z^2 with the constraint x^4 + y^4 + z^4 = 1
I am going to bed soon, but check out the page I put together on Lagrange Multipliers: https://sites.google.com/a/ctyonline.net/jdinoto/mvc/unit-2/lagrange Michael Corral's text has a NICE explanation with tons of examples. http://www.mecmath.net/calc3book.pdf Also this: http://synechism.org/drupal/cfsv/ is a SUPER reference, though it has a few largely trivial typos.
Thanks so much! I'll check these out
@mathteacher - you teach in the US?
Hades -- Yup. I teach online math classes, so some of my students are international though. But I live in the US.
Do you teach Canadian students giving the AP exams?
I don't think I have any Canadian students.
Thank you.
